The Juanita C. Grant Foundation (JCGF) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our mission is “to strengthen communities by building solution-focused programs across the lifespan of older adults, ensuring everyone has access to purpose, protection, and possibility as we age.”
We are seeking accomplished, mission-driven leaders to join our Board of Directors—individuals ready to contribute their expertise, challenge ideas, open doors, and help shape meaningful change for older adults, younger people and their families nationwide.
This is more than board service. It is an opportunity to apply your knowledge, wisdom, leadership, and focus where it matters most.

Board Responsibilities
JCGF Board members are entrusted to serve as stewards, ambassadors, and strategic leaders of the organization. Board service carries significant responsibility, requiring active engagement, sound judgment, and a commitment to advancing the mission with integrity and purpose. Responsibilities include:
- Providing strong governance, oversight, and fiduciary stewardship to ensure the Foundation’s financial health, ethical standards, and long-term sustainability.
- Advancing fundraising, philanthropy, and resource development efforts through personal commitment, relationship building, and opening doors to new opportunities.
- Guiding strategic planning and organizational growth to strengthen impact, relevance, and national reach.
- Expanding visibility, partnerships, and influence across communities, sectors, and stakeholders.
- Ensuring programs and initiatives align with mission priorities and respond effectively to emerging community needs.
- Preparing for and actively participating in Board meetings by bringing informed perspectives, thoughtful questions, constructive challenge, and solutions-oriented leadership.
- Upholding accountability, transparency, and high performance standards throughout the organization.
- Spearheading innovation and forward-thinking leadership that positions JCGF for the future.
Board members are expected to contribute not only their expertise, but also their time, energy, networks, and commitment to achieving measurable results.
Who We Seek
We welcome nominations from leaders with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. JCGF is especially interested in candidates with expertise in:
- Fundraising & Revenue Growth
- Strategic Planning & Scaling Organizations
- Entrepreneurship, Corporate or Community organizations
- Public Policy & Advocacy
- Education & Training Programs
- AI, Marketing, Communications & Social Media
- Finance, Audit, or Legal Oversight
- Aging Services, Youth experience, Healthcare
- National or Regional Board Leadership

Commitment Expectations
Board terms are three years. Directors are expected to:
- Be passionate about the mission of JCGF
- Actively engage in meetings, committees, and initiatives
- Contribute time, ideas, and influence throughout their tenure
- Support annual fundraising goals, including Board giving participation
- Serve with integrity, professionalism, and accountability
