JCGF President and CEO to Lead LTCCC Equity on Aging & Disability Committee

May 14, 2021

S. Orlene Grant brings decades of senior leader experience in healthcare management and program development.

Capitol Heights, MD, May 13, 2021: Fairfax County, Va.’s Long Term Care Coordinating Council (LTCCC), recently appointed S. Orlene Grant, RN MSN, President and CEO of Juanita C. Grant Foundation (JCGF) as the inaugural chair of the new LTCCC Equity on Aging and Disability Committee. Ms. Grant was approached by the leadership of LTCCC to head up the new committee and develop its initial framework.

The Long Term Care Coordinating Council (LTCCC) was created in 2002 to identify the needs of older adults and people with disabilities in Fairfax County, and to create solutions for long term care services and programs that enhance their lives. The goal of providing these programs and services is to create a community where older residents can age comfortably, live with their disabilities, and enjoy the experiences their communities have to offer, without having to leave it.

The LTCCC has recently focused its efforts on Nursing Home advocacy, highlighting key long-term care policy issues such as staffing, oversight, & financial transparency in order to promote accountability and meaningful action in public health initiatives for older adults. The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the lack of quality care facilities for older adults, and the LTCCC aims to help the public, media, and policymakers to identify issues and develop a care system that meet basic clinical and quality of life needs.

Ms. Grant stated, “The LTCCC has been very progressive in embracing the critical issues and needs that impact older adults. The Equity on Aging and Disabilities Committee will serve as a resource, consultant and educator of the 60 members of the LTCCC as they re-examine policies, practices, programs and services through an equity lens.”
