JCGF Seeks Members For Its New National Advisory Council

Jun 21, 2021

The organization seeks like-minded subject-matter experts in order to increase program capabilities

Capitol Heights, MD, June 14, 2021: Long-dedicated to improving quality of life for members of the 50+ community through education, training, advocacy and research, The Juanita C. Grant Foundation (JCGF) now seeks qualified individuals who are passionate about the same to join its National Advisory Council. The decision to form this council comes on the heels of the organization’s expansion of its programs and initiatives, in addition to offering its services nationwide as opposed to focusing solely on older adults in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area.

Applicants of all backgrounds across the country are encouraged to apply as JCGF is committed to considering a diverse range of perspectives when addressing issues such as equity in aging and adults with disabilities, social isolation, elder abuse, and financial fraud. Self-nominations are welcome. Council positions can be held for a maximum of two years and require no dues. While members are welcome to attend Board of Directors meetings, they will have no governance responsibilities within the organization.

The Foundation has worked to establish a national presence through our Village Connector Experience structured outreach call program which has served 22 states, our National Town Hall meeting on Preparing Communities of Color for the COVID-19 Vaccine, and the Elder Abuse and Financial Fraud webinar series,” said JCGF President & CEO S. Orlene Grant. “We are looking forward to developing our National Advisory Council to help guide and support our broader efforts to give voice to older adults.”

The duties of National Advisory Council members will be assigned according to each individual’s area of expertise. Some examples of the duties and responsibilities council members will perform include fundraising, business development, advising on issues, providing unbiased insight and ideas, and networking to advance the organization’s mission amongst others. To submit yourself or another person for consideration, a current resume, no more than 2 pages should be submitted to Board Chair, Maggie Holmes at mholmes@jcgfdn.org.
