Juanita C. Grant Foundation Re-Certified as a 2024 “Critical Nonprofit” by Spur Local
Continued Partnership Will Expand Services for Older Adults
(Capitol Heights, MD) – (September 10, 2024) – The Juanita C. Grant Foundation (JCGF), local and national champion for amplifying the voice of older adults, has proudly announced its recertification as a member of Spur Local’s prestigious 2024 class of “Critical Nonprofits.” Formerly known as the Catalogue for Philanthropy, Spur Local is renowned for recognizing nonprofits that demonstrate impactful community service and unwavering dedication to improving lives. The re-certification is a testament to JCGF’s consistent leadership in serving older adults and its commitment to fostering economic empowerment, social connectedness, and elder justice.
Thanks to the continued partnership with Spur Local, JCGF will be able to further expand the scope of services it provides to the older adult community. “I was thrilled the Juanita C. Grant Foundation was accepted as a partner into the 2022-2023 Catalogue of Philanthropy and now re-certified by Spur Local for 2024,” said S. Orlene Grant, JCGF Founder and CEO. “We look forward to expanding JCGF programs such as Elder Abuse and Fraud Prevention Workshops, 50+ Workforce Training, and the online Village Connector Experience, a program that breaks the cycle of social isolation and loneliness for older adults.”
This renewed partnership promises increased visibility, growth, and support for the foundation. Through Spur Local’s endorsement, JCGF will be empowered to reach more communities and form strategic partnerships to better serve vulnerable older adults. By continuing their work, JCGF aims to strengthen its efforts to reduce elder poverty, prevent financial fraud, and enhance overall well-being among aging populations.
The recognition comes as a timely boost for the Foundation’s ongoing initiatives, particularly its comprehensive Village Connector Experience, which serves as a crucial platform to combat loneliness and build supportive, intergenerational relationships for older adults. Additionally, the continued focus on Elder Abuse and Fraud Prevention Workshops and 50+ Workforce Training programs aligns with JCGF’s goal of empowering older adults with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and thrive economically.
