National Employ Older Workers Week & National Senior Center Month

National Employ Older Workers Week, held annually the last full week of September, recognizes the vital role of older workers in the workforce. National Employ Older Workers Week aims to increase awareness of this labor segment and develop innovative strategies to tap it. It also showcases the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which provides on-the-job skills training to individuals 55 or older with limited financial resources. Since its inception, SCSEP has helped over one million older Americans enter the workforce.

Senior Centers: Delivering Vital Connections!
This year’s theme was chosen to highlight how senior centers deliver vital connections to support older adults aging well.
To commemorate National Senior Center Month, JCGF Board member and Communications Group Co-Chair Barton Fields interviewed Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Kofi Impraim, MBA, Facility Director at Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center and Lynn Butler Lynn Butler, Acting Senior Services Coordinator at the Gwendolyn Britt Senior Activity Center.
