VirginiaNavigator Adds Village Connector Experience to Network

Mar 10, 2021

The Juanita C. Grant Foundation’s isolation-eradicating service joins extensive network of services for Virginians.

Capitol Heights, MD, Mar. 9, 2021: The Juanita C. Grant Foundation, Inc. (JCGF) is proud to announce its new role as service provider on the VirginiaNavigator family of websites. www.seniornavigator.org, www.virginianavigator.org, disAbilityNavigator.org, VeteransNavigator.org, and MyLifeMyCommunityVirginia.org are all sites within a network designed to help older adults, veterans, people with disabilities, caregivers, and families of these population segments within Virginia to locate vital resources. JCGF has been collaborating with Virginia No Wrong Door on the Village Connector Experience (VCE) call service to provide support to older adults especially during the current period of social distancing required by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The past eleven months of the global pandemic has been especially tough for older Americans, as they have been forced to reckon with a rapid change to their social circumstances that they, along with other members of the general public, were unwittingly thrust into. Loneliness and isolation which occurred at higher rates and with more severe consequences for older people even pre-pandemic, have been exacerbated by decreased mobility, financial insecurity, COVID-19 infection rates, and lockdown exercises.

“One of the joys of the VCE program is that it is highly accessible to older adults with or without WiFi capabilities,” S. Orlene Grant RN, MSN, President and CEO of JCGF stated. "The national program has reached individuals in over 22 states since its launch in 2020. We look forward to expanding service to Virginia residents”.
