Collaboration will expand efforts to create much-needed solutions for the 50+ community

The Juanita C. Grant Foundation (JCGF) announced a partnership with Altrusa International’s Montgomery County district club, in an effort to take its vision of an empowered community beyond the borders of the Washington metropolitan area. Together, these two service-oriented organizations will continue to create change in communities far and wide through leadership, collaboration and service.

Altrusa International began in 1917 as a civic-service organization for women in the United States of America, and has since grown into an international association of local clubs, each individually designing and implementing programs to fit the needs of the communities they serve. Altrusa International operates on the belief that everyone can make a positive difference in the world around them, simply by volunteering their time and donating to worthy causes. This commitment to collaboration for the benefit of others is evident in this decision to partner with JCGF, an alliance which which will greatly improve the wellbeing of the 50+ community.

“Altrusa International of Montgomery County is thrilled to be able to join the Juanita C. Grant Foundation in their efforts to improve the lives of the over 50 population who are in need of services and protection,” said Silvia D'Jaen Silverman, Past International President of Altrusa International, Inc., and current President of Altrusa International of Montgomery County. “Our partnership will help to further the mission of Altrusa to improve communities worldwide, providing service and developing leadership. Together we will be able to expand the reach of both organizations into the larger community.”

The Juanita C. Grant Foundation (JCGF) has been a community leader since 2013, passionately dedicated to ensuring that older Americans thrive in their daily lives, especially during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic when they need more support than ever. Food insecurity, declining health, social isolation and economic instability are just a few of the many issues faced by many seniors in communities everywhere, and JCGF works tirelessly to create solutions in the form of education and social welfare initiatives.

The Juanita C. Grant Foundation is deeply committed to advocating for an improved quality of life for the 50+ community and looks forward to working with Altrusa International towards that shared goal,” said S. Orlene Grant, President and CEO. “In particular, JCGF appreciates the unique perspective of an organization devoted to the hands-on community service, and eagerly anticipates a partnership that supports and uplifts older adults in all aspects of their lives. Together we will build and implement community-focused strategies that will enhance economic stability, disrupt the social isolation of older adults, and eradicate the disparities that have long plagued older adults in communities of color.”
