Tips To Get Us Moving! (Part 2)

By nature, most older adults are active and enjoy outdoor activities, so now that spring has sprung, we want to be immersed in the groove of things like hiking, nature walks, swimming, gardening, biking, golfing, and other physical pursuits. So, how do we get back into the groove?
Leisurely strolls through neighborhood parks or residential areas can be relaxing. Also, it is a great form of physical activity that gives us a chance to stop and chat with neighbors.
Water Aerobics is a fun exercise and extremely popular among all ages especially for seniors because it offers resistance training, increases our cardiovascular health, and helps with balance, coordination, and mobility.
Dancing helps us to remain fit, improve our muscle tone and strength, and a great way for us to connect with new people and make friends at dance classes. Find yourself a dance partner and go dancing.
Gardening and planting vegetables or flowers require steady and continuous care. Belonging to a garden club or growing our own herbs and vegetables offers a way to connect with nature, control the type of pesticides we use, harvest what we eat, and provides another form of social and physical activity that can boost our attitudes and make us feel alive.
As we all age together, we should encourage ourselves and others to remain as active as possible without overburdening ourselves. Staying physically active and connecting with others help to keep our minds and bodies wholesome, because being active prevents a sedentary lifestyle, relieves stress, and helps us to live and maintain a healthier and more joyous life. Are you enjoying an active and healthy life?
